Editorial standards

Our titles exist to report accurately on the places they cover. These are the standards every title works to.

Accuracy

Stories are based on named sources: council papers, police and court statements, official releases, and people we have spoken to or corresponded with. Where a fact cannot be confirmed we say so or leave it out. We do not publish rumour.

Sponsored content

Paid-for articles are marked as sponsored on the page. Paid content never appears as news and advertisers have no say over news coverage.

Corrections

When we get something wrong we correct it as soon as we are told, and the correction is noted on the article itself. To report an error, email the title concerned or hello@gobmediagroup.co.uk with the article link and what needs correcting.

Privacy and fairness

We report on people in public roles in relation to those roles. We do not name children, victims of sexual offences or people in private grief without consent, and we take care with photographs supplied by readers.

Complaints

If you believe an article breaches these standards, write to hello@gobmediagroup.co.uk or to the postal address on the contact page, quoting the title, the article and your concern. We acknowledge complaints within two working days and reply in full within ten. If you are not satisfied with our reply you may take the matter further with the title's editor, and we will tell you how.

Contributors and sources

Readers, community groups and local organisations supply many of our stories and photographs. Contributors are credited where they wish to be. Sources who ask not to be named are not named.
